I was elected to the Coalition for Juvenile Justice Executive Board
Last month in May 2023, I attended the Coalition for Juvenile Justice annual conference in Washington, D.C., where I was elected as the Emerging Leaders Chair for the Emerging Leaders Committee. The Emerging Leaders Chair is also a Coalition for Juvenile Justice Executive Board member, making me an official Executive Board Member for the 2023-2026 term.
Being an executive board member of the Coalition for Juvenile Justice will significantly benefit my role as a school board member in several ways. Firstly, it will provide me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and needs of at-risk youth, allowing me to advocate effectively for their support and inclusion in our school system. Additionally, my involvement will enable me to access valuable resources, best practices, and networking opportunities that can enhance our district's strategies for addressing juvenile justice issues and promoting positive outcomes for all students.
The Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ) is a collective effort encompassing State Advisory Groups (SAGs), organizations, individuals, youth, and allies across the nation. Its mission is to proactively prevent children and youth from entering the courts and ensure the utmost level of care when they do, prioritizing their well-being and providing them and their families with every available opportunity for a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life. CJJ strives for a future where fewer children are susceptible to delinquency and where those involved with the justice system receive comprehensive support.
